Miracles / Sent May 6, 2019
Hello!
This week we had some sweet miracles. Mostly with our friends Steeve and Linsay. They live in the apartment right next to us, and they are super cool. They have the cutest baby too. He is 7 months and 3 days old today. The first lesson we had with them Steeve told us how old their baby was to the day. Yeah, like I said, they're elect. Or just really weird. But anyway, we've had lots of super great lessons with them since we met them, and they have decided that they want to get baptized! We set the date for June 22, so unless something weird happens with transfers (which it probably will), I should be here for it. They also came to church this week and they really liked it. We were also blessed because it was a super good fast and testimony meeting, and we had a super good sunday school lesson too. And throughout my whole mission I've heard how great the members are in Martinique, and holy cow it's true. Almost every single member at church came up and started to talk to them and get to know them, and it was awesome! Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. I'd be surprised if we could even sit next to them next week with how many members might sit by them first. So all of that was super awesome. So many miracles!
Another thing I'd like to share is something I've noticed a lot in my studies. We have five lessons that we teach. The first three are doctrines that people need to know (The restoration, the plan of salvation, and the gospel of Jesus Christ), the fourth one is the commandments, and the fifth one is other random stuff that people need to know after their baptisms. What's cool about that is that in the first three lessons, there is a point dedicated to Jesus Christ and His Atonement. And all three of them talk about how that is the base of everything else. Sometimes I think it's easy to forget that with all the excitement of the priesthood, modern day prophets, more books of scripture, and all the other wonderful blessings that come from the restoration of the gospel of Jesus Christ. All of those things are necessary and important, but none of them are the most important. The most essential, most important, most wonderful, and most miraculous thing that we share as missionaries, and that we believe in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is that Jesus Christ came to Earth, that He suffered for our sins and pains and afflictions in the garden of Gethsemane, that He died for us on the cross, and that He was resurrected. In short, the fact the Jesus Christ performed His Atonement for us. It is so amazing! I can't express how grateful I am to my Savior Jesus Christ for everything He has done for me, is doing for me right now, and will do for me. And I know that He does and will do the same for you.
I think that I was thinking more about that right now because of an experience I had this week. We started talking to a man, and we told him that we share a message about Jesus Christ. He laughed and told us that it was all just stories and that Jesus Christ never existed. You don't find many people like that here. But as he said that, I was able to testify without a doubt that Jesus is real, and that He did come to Earth to suffer for our sins because He loves us. I was able to testify of that multiple times during our conversation. I never felt the least bit phased from what he was saying, but only felt my testimony strengthen as the spirit testified of the truth of what I was saying. It was a cool experience, and even though that man never believed what I was saying, he did feel the spirit, and did take a tract and a Book of Mormon, and said he'll read them. I'm really grateful that I had that experience.
Well, I guess I kind of just preached this whole email, but oh well, that's good every once in a while. Anyway, I love you all, and have a fantastic week!
Love, Elder Kerr
Those are mostly views of our area or of the ocean, and one or two of me with other missionaries I think. Honestly, I just barely chose which pictures to send, and I already forgot what they are. Oh well. Have a great one!
