Be careful what you wish for! / Sent Jan. 21, 2019

Hello!

Well, I have a funny story for all of you. Once upon a time Elder Kerr was in Pointe-à-pitre for three transfers. He realized that he started to get into a routine, and wasn't really continually improving like he should. So he started to pray so that God would help him keep learning and improving. But, Elder Kerr forgot that it was almost transfer week, and that God has a funny sense of humor. Elder Kerr wasn't asking for a change with the transfers, just maybe a new idea or two to help him keep improving. That's not what God had in mind. So just a few days ago, Friday morning, Elder Kerr and his companion Elder West were just about to start weekly planning. Elder Kerr had just gotten out peanut butter and jelly and some bread to make a sandwich to give him energy during planning. Neither Elder Kerr or Elder West were thinking about transfers, because they always get their calls on Saturday. But just before Elder Kerr started making the sandwich, the phone rang. It was President Fisher, the mission president. Elder Kerr, thought, "that's weird, why is he calling us right now?" So Elder Kerr answered and sat down at the table with Elder West, and they both started to listen to President Fisher. He started with the usual I love you both you are great missionaries thing, and then he got down to business. He said something along the lines of "Elder Kerr, I have thought and prayed a lot about it, and the the spirit has clearly told me that the Lord wants you to be my new assistant." And that's when Elder Kerr realized, be careful what you wish (pray) for.

Ok, but really, that all happened. I was super surprised. I've never even been zone leader before, and then I got called to be assistant. It's gonna be a big change for me, and it's gonna push me for sure. Also, President lives in Barbados, and so do the Assistants. So I'm going back to the English side. I'll also be surrounded by lots of missionaries I've never met before, and basically I'll just be thrown into something completely different than where I am now. I have no idea what an assistant is supposed  to do. Basically all I know is they help council the zone leaders on what they are supposed to do, but like I said, I've never been zone leader, so this'll be interesting. But in all seriousness, although I'm sad to leave this area and branch that I really love, I've really come to love serving other missionaries over the past few months, and I'm really excited that God is giving me another opportunity to serve others. I know God will make my weaknesses strengths, and my new companion will be Elder Steed, who is basically an angel, so I'm sure everything will go great. But please don't be afraid to say an extra prayer for me this week. Thanks! Oh, and for anyone keeping track, Elder Anderson is STILL staying in his 2nd area, while I'm moving to my 7th, haha.

Well, sorry, but I guess I've had lots of thoughts going through my head recently, and I just dumped a bunch of them on you. Other than that my week was good. I hope you all have a great week too!

Love, Elder Kerr

These are some pictures of members I said bye to. Actually, the little kid is the son of someone we are teaching right now, but he saw me taking pictures and ran over to take one with me. He's super cute, so I'm glad he did that, haha. Have a great week!
