Conference Talk / Sent Oct. 8, 2018
Hey everyone!
Hi! How did you like conference? Holy moly, I loved it so much! It was so great! I have really learned to love and appreciate conference since I started my mission. I hope that you can all appreciate it too. It is a HUGE blessing that people all around the world can listen to the prophet speak at the same time. Even some of King Benjamin's people had to wait for their version of the Liahona magazine to come out to hear the talk, and they were even there, just too far away. We are so blessed! That being said, conference put me in preaching mood, so I decided to share some of my thoughts with all of you today.
First off, wow, we are still receiving lots of revelation. That's awesome. I loved both of President Nelson's announcements, about church and about the name of the Church. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints that is. From what I've heard, it seems like people all around the world have been working hard to be good ministers, so that's awesome. I know my mom put many many hours of work into praying and thinking and working to reorganize inspired ministering companionships in our ward too, so shout out to her! But what I really noticed is that we have prepared ourselves to receive the new church schedule over the last six months, and God knows that we are ready for it. But that doesn't mean it's gonna be super easy. We do not have an hour less of "church" on Sundays now, we just have an hour less of organized church at a church building. We should feel the spirit more and learn more on Sundays with this new change, even though that means we need to put more personal effort in. But think of the blessings! Let's do it!
I also love the chance we have to more fully take upon us the name of Christ now. We are all disciples of Christ, many of you are members of His church on the earth today. I can't think of anyone I'd be happier to represent than my savior. What an honor. I proudly wear his name on my tag every day, and although most of you don't have name tags, we can all represent Christ as we keep His commandments and follow His gospel. We have such a wonderful opportunity to now help everyone know how much we love the savior by more correctly using the full name of His church that He gave us. I'm so pumped!
Last thing is the temples! 12 new temples!?!? That's so crazy awesome! I'm so pumped! We NEED the temple in our lives, and as we go to it, and bring family names, we will have the protection we need in the last days. Satan isn't going to wait to tempt you and try to destroy you, so you shouldn't wait to put on the protection we need, and that comes in large part from temple attendance. I have a huge testimony of that, because I've seen the difference it's made in my life, and I can't wait to go to the temple again after my mission. I love what President Nelson said, which is also what he said last conference. The building of new temples might not change your lives, but your time in them will. It will change your lives. Go to the temple as often as you can! And love it!
Well, I'm sure I could go on a lot longer, but I'll leave you all with those three thoughts. I love you all, and I know that this church, The Church
of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, is the true church of God on the earth today, and it is led by a prophet of God. I love this gospel, I love my savior, and I love all of you! Have a great week!
Love, Elder Kerr
