Hey everyone!
Hey! I know I haven't sent out a really long email in a while, and I had TONS of people complain to me about that, (Actually, just my mom), so I'm gonna try to write a longer one this week. You're welcome mom. And to everyone else, sorry, the pictures aren't loading this week, so you can just stop reading now and get on next week, haha. I actually did write down a couple things to put in my email this week though, so get ready for a lot of random stuff.
We had a super cool contact the other day, but it was kind of weird at one point too. They were two girls, probably in their 20's, and they actually called us over to them because one of them wanted a bible. It turns out they have talked to missionaries before and wanted to know more, so we set up a lesson with them and actually taught them yesterday, and it went great! But during the contact, on of them turned to elder Griffin and told him to turn around. We were a little confused, but he turned around and there was a tiny ant crawling along his lower back. She tried to hit it off of him, but it just slid down to his, well, how do I say this? That part of your body right below the lower back, haha. Well, anyway, this lady was determined to get that ant off of Elder Griffin, and so she just spanked it right off of him, haha. I was laughing so hard, and her friend was freaking out at her, but they were both laughing too. Elder Griffin was trying to laugh, but he was just confused because he didn't see the ant, he just turned around and got spanked, haha. It was super funny.
We found another cool girl who was 16 I think when we were door contacting. She could speak english, so we were talking to her for a little bit, and her mom from inside asked who she was talking too. She just put her head inside and yelled "Mom, it's the Jesus people". That was pretty funny. I've always wanted to be called the Jesus people.
We contacted another door and a Rasta opened it. Of course he had a beard and dreads and was super chill, but he started asking why we didn't dress or look like Jesus. And every time we would start to talk he would interupt us by asking why we had short hair, or why we didn't have beards or something like that, and it was so funny that we all just started laughing. We just told him "Vous avez raison", Which means you're right. But then he still wouldn't stop, so we started saying it over and over and he just kept talking, and then we all just laughed, and then we left.
Well, those three little stories give a pretty good discription of the type of people we meet here. One super cool thing that happened this week is that Jennifer is actually ready and happy for her baptism! We had a lesson with her last week and told her that we felt we were pressuring her too much, and that it was her choice, and we think that is what made the difference. But this week was the first week in a while where I felt she was actually happy when she was talking too us, and so we are super excited for her. She should be getting baptized this week. I'm so pumped!
Well, that's all for this week. Sorry I don't have any pictures, maybe my mom can add some from that past weeks that she hasn't already posted yet. I just want to end by saying that I know that this church is true, and I love being out here sharing it every day. I hope you all will get chances to share the Gospel in your lives too this week. Have a great one!
Love, Elder Kerr
