Happy New Year - Sent Jan. 2nd, 2018

Hey!

This week was pretty good. It was a little crazy because we had Christmas on Monday and then P-day on Wednesday, so it was hard to get a lot done, but there was some funny stuff that I want to share, haha.

First off, I went on exchanges this week. I went to the other apartment, and they have a little bit of a rat problem. They have been leaving out poison though. When we got home that night, there was a big dead rat on the floor. Or so we thought. It turns out it wasn't dead. It was just mostly dead. Elder Caraes said normally they just will sweep the rat onto a dust pan and throw it out, but every time we touched this one with the broom it would start to squirm like crazy! It couldn't walk, but at one point it even started rolling across the room! Gross! Luckily Elder Caraes filmed me as I was sweeping it out of the house, and we were both screaming like little girls the whole time. It was super funny.

Two more quick things. This has probably happened to every missionary who has contacted lots of apartment buildings, but the other day we knocked on a door, no one answered, so we knocked on the next door. Then the first door answered. Then the second one answered. So I took the first one and elder Tanner took the second one, haha. They were both kids though, so it wasn't awkward at all, it was just funny. And the other thing is I've been teaching a few of the missionaries in my zone how to juggle. Some of them are starting to get pretty good, and they were doing it a little bit before district meeting. I was worried that I was loosing my juggling dominance, but luckily there is a little kitchen in the room we have district meeting. There happened to be three kitchen knives in there. Let's just say that I'm still the best juggler in my zone, haha.

And something spiritual happened a few weeks ago that I wanted to say. I know I wanted to write about it earlier, and I honestly can't remember if I did or not, so sorry if you've already heard this story, haha. But a few weeks ago they were releasing a few people in the Branch, and one of them was the Young women's president. As far as I'm aware, there is only one active young woman in the branch, and I didn't even realize there was a young women's presidency.  I was thinking about how that calling seemed like a waste of time, and it almost seemed like a joke to me. But then I looked at the sister getting released, and she had tears in her eyes. Even though there was only one active young woman, this sister had worked hard and served her the best she could, and it was hard for her to get released. That really struck me. I realized that every calling in the church is important, and no matter what it is you can make a difference if you choose to serve and love a lot. I want to try to be more like her and work harder in my calling as a missionary.

Well, that sums up this week pretty good. Just to clarify something in last week's email, the pickachu stuffed animal is the gift that I gave, not what I got. But I liked it so much that I took some pictures with it before I wrapped it up, haha. Have a great week everyone!

Love Elder Kerr
