Hey everyone!

So I guess I'll start out by explaining the heading of this email. We were teaching Duwan the other night, and it had just barely started to cool down. Like, that day was super hot. We were dying all day long. But we teach him in the evenings, and the sun had gone down and it was finally a good temperature. It was the first time that day that I felt comfortable outside. Anyway, we are teaching Duwan, and he is sitting there with his arms folded, and he is SHIVERING! He was so cold! It was so funny! He was like, "How are you guys not freezing!?" And we were like. "How are you cold!?" It was so funny! It was probably like 80 degrees outside with a nice little breeze, and he was so cold. He survived the rest of the lesson, but as soon as we finished he ran inside and grabbed a jacket. Hopefully I don't get too used to the weather here, or else I'm gonna die my first winter back home, haha. And on another note, we asked Duwan to get baptized, and he agreed to do it on
Feb 3! He isn't sure if he can be ready by then, but me and Elder Tanner both feel really strongly that he can be ready then, and he is ready to try his best! I'm so pumped!
Well, I just put both my funniest and most spiritual moments in a single paragraph, haha. I should do that more often. I suppose I should also say that I'll have P-day Tuesday next week, because I'll be calling home on Monday!!! That's also why my thoughts are kind of scattered right now, haha. And they will probably be even more scattered next week, so I doubt I'll get out any kind of decent email, but I'll at least try to make it short for you, haha.

One last thing just so you understand what kind of life I'm living here, we have an investigator named Albert who has a fake eye. He lost it about a week ago and cant find it, haha. He doesn't like wearing it anyway because it is really uncomfortable, so I guess it's good for him too, even though now he just kind of has an empty spot where his eye should be. And I know I've only been on my mission for a few months, but already when that happened I didn't even think it was that weird. There is so much weird stuff here that I just don't even notice it
anymore, haha. Speaking of that, we went to another investigator's house this week and her two year old son answered the door, and was standing there just completely naked. Their dog started walking out of the house, and his mom called them both back inside, so he just walked out of his house, picked up the dog which was as big as him, and walked back inside super casually. It was super funny. The dog was naked too if you were wondering.

Well, that's all for this week. Have a great week and Christmas, and if you haven't already I suggest you watch the light the world video on Mormon.org. It is super good, and will help you remember the real meaning of Christmas. As someone in our branch said yesterday, it is Christmas, not Presentmas or Santamas. Haha, have a great week!
Love, Elder Kerr
Merry Christmas, Elder McKade! Love your stories, comical and spiritual. Love to see your area and other pictures as well.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea why the strange "ML & C Burgoyn" comes to the top. I've tried to change it, to no avail -- but this is Sister Mary Lou Burgoyne.
So excited for you and for all the wonderful experiences you are having. Glad you get to call home for Christmas! I'm sure your family is excited for that, too.
I have learned (or re-learned) a vital lesson this year -- and that everything works out if we listen to the Holy Spirit, and are willing to go with the Lord's timetable. May the Lord's blessings be with you as you serve so well there in the Barbados Mission.
