Merry Christmas

Hi everyone!    I suppose you are all wondering what the merry Christmas heading is for. Well, I'll tell you. Today is the 25th, so it's Christmas! Our zone has been celebrating Christmas all week by singing Christmas hymns in class, and that's pretty much it. But we did do a little secret santa with a couple of the districts, which was really fun. Everyone pretty much just bought candy or stickers or something like that for their person, but some of the presents were really clever and funny.     We had an awesome  Tuesday  night devotional this week! Elder Clayton from the seventy came, and he was really good. It was fun because he was pretty casual with us, and had us recite a couple scriptures and sing a song and some stuff like that. He was also pretty funny. And he was super spiritual. All of that made for a great devotional. I can't remember all the specifics of what he said, but I'll share a thought that I had during it. Before I came int...

Salut!    So I learned something interesting this week. Salut is a way to say hi in French, but it also means salvation. So we teach Le plan du Salut, which is the plan of salvation, but I guess it could also mean the plan of hi. Kind of weird, but funny. The language just keeps getting better and better. But I work hard and pray every day for God's help, and even though it is hard, I know I can do it if I continue to do those two things.     I have a spiritual experience I want to share that kind of goes along with learning the language. I was taking notes on a video we were watching on Sunday, and I couldn't think of the word I was looking for. It wasn't even in French, I was writing in English. Has that ever happened to you, you just can't think of the word you want to use? Anyway, that happened to me, a...

Hi everyone!     They say that the days are long and the weeks are short here at the MTC, and it is totally true. It feels like just yesterday I was on this computer emailing last week. Just kidding, I used a different computer last week. It's also crazy how much French I've learned in just a week. We pray for the gift of tongues every day, and let me just say that it is real. In French we call it la don du longues. I don't know if that's spelled right, but it's fun to say. I can already pray pretty well in French, bear a simple testimony, and say a bunch of other gospel related words. I can bear testimony to you right now that the gift of tongues is real. I have felt it while I've been here, and it's amazing. It doesn't make me fluent by any means, but I can recall almost all of my vocabulary when I'm teaching, and when the spirit is really strong I can understand French a lot better.      So I just mentioned that the gift of tongues help...
