More Work, More Fun.
Hello!
Hi everyone, how are you? Just kidding, don't worry about responding, it's not like you were gonna email me back anyway.... Ok, that was awkward, let's move on now. The heading of my email has to do with the fact that I'm in a threesome now! Now I have Elder Jackson and Elder Zuniga with me! But we have two areas to cover now, so it is kind of tricky to meet with everyone we want to. But we are trying our best, and the Lord is helping us. Elder Zuniga is a funny guy though, and he can make Elder Jackson laugh so hard, so we have had some fun companion studies recently, haha. The funniest part is that Elder Zuniga isn't even trying to be funny half the time, which makes it even better.
I assume a lot of missionaries and people will be talking about conference for the next few weeks, and it was amazing and I loved it, but I wan't to write about a different experience I had this week. We were teaching Keda, the girl we baptized last week, about the temple. We started talking about baptisms for the dead, and no matter how much we tried to explain it, she was having a hard time understanding it all. But we were at a member's house, and sister Brown was sitting in the lesson with us, and she understood exactly how Keda felt, so she helped us out a little bit. But instead of try to explain it, she bore her testimony of the temple, which brought in the spirit so much and did more than any of us as missionaries could have done. She has only gone to the temple once, but shared some cool experiences she had there, and said that she would spend every day at the temple if she could. She said that her testimony was strengthened so much there, and that it was unlike anything else she has ever felt. So she was able to assure Keda that although she doesn't understand it all right now, the temple is the house of God, and very important for us. After this I just wanted to challenge all of you who are able to to go to the temple more often. The people here spend years saving up to go to the temple, and they love it so much! If any of you who live close to a temple could have heard sister Brown talk, you would have felt bad for not going more often, so I'm trying to pass the guilt to you so you will go, haha. Not really like that, but really, do try to go more. It is a wonderful blessing, and you will be glad you did.
I know I said that we have had lots of funny times together here, but there are none that would be super funny through email, so I'll share something else that happened yesterday. I was sitting on my bed, writing in my journal, and Elder Jackson told my to come see something in the bathroom. I went in, and on the wall was the biggest spider I've ever seen. It was probably a little bit bigger than my fist. I'll put in a picture so you can see. But we got a shoe, and Elder Jackson tried to hit it, but he missed! We were freaking out just a little bit, but Elder Jackson was not gonna let this spider live, so when it climbed up on the wall we got a ladder, and Elder Jackson climbed up it with a broom to reach it. But he missed it again! So then he climbed up on this shelf type thing in the bathroom, and missed it again! This time it crawled into a crack in the ceiling, and we didn't know if it was trapped in there or would come out somewhere else. But we got Permethrin, (The bug poison we have), and sprayed it all over that crack and all around it. I'm not sure if it is still alive or not, but I haven't seen it since. Just another day here in St. Vincent I guess.
Well, I just want all of you to know that I know this church is true. I love it, and conference made me love it even more. We are so blessed to have the guidance they gave us, and it would be a good idea to follow their advice for us. I know I will! Have a great week everyone!
Love, Elder Kerr.
Pictures: The spider is the one that was in our apartment. We didn't put our hand next to it to compare the size of it for obvious reasons. The other three are pictures I took from house we went to. It was so beautiful up there, the pictures don't do it justice.
Dang! Now That is a spider. Looks to be a large Wolf Spider...Wow!
